By the 1980s, artistic expressions of a nuclear apocalypse had become passé. So of what relevance is it today? Well, today it appears to be looming more sinister than ever and here's why ...
At the time I was recording this track, President Trump was pulling out of the nuclear non-proliferation treaty with Russia and Los Alamos was gearing-up for renewed nuclear weapons production. Also, a Russian missile testing facility blew-up and several radioactivity monitoring stations went offline. Yes folks, this was all happening in August 2019.
When they come - no time to run
No time to run - when they come
When they come - nothing to fight for
Only to die for - and no time to run
You will hear the sirens scream
You may think that it's just a dream
First comes the fire and then comes the rain
There will be no time to feel the pain
There wil be no time for you to explain
Just how this world got so damned insane
See the reflection in your child's eye
What's that coming down from the sky
Nothing my little one just hold on tight
It means it's time to say goodnight
